Review of Canon 8-15 mm f4 Fisheye Lens*
FUN LENS I just got this lens, and so far, I am loving the creative side it brings out! Since it captures so much, you have to rethink composition, but the possibilities are endless! I saw a video on FB of “unleash the power of the fisheye” by Canon…good tips. That was my deciding factor to purchase it. Not one bit sorry. Can’t wait to see what I do with it. (Dec 2014)
So very satisfied with my purchase! It took me months to decide whether or not to buy this lens, because I own a 7D and I knew it wouldn’t live up to my expectations of a fish eye lens compared to a full frame camera. But after reading LOTS of reviews, I decided to go for it. And boy am I glad that I did! Some don’t like the dark corners in the image when using the 8mm focal length, but I actually like it.Others complained about the cap not being too fit, but it works just fine for me.All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase and the price is totally worth it! Superb lens! I bought this lens for those occasional sky-wide sunrises and sunsets, when no other lens can fully capture the beauty. I also love to do wide-angle night photography of the Milky Way, and often with foreground terrain and objects illuminated by the moon. Star images are the most telling method of lens image quality over the format short of USAF 1951 bar target testing. To test this, I took my first Milky Way pictures with this lens a few nights ago, and I am VERY impressed by the tight, sharp star images, even at f/4 and at different zoom settings. See accompanying picture – Canon 60Da, 30 second exposure, f/4, ISO 2000.
