The Canon Rebel SL1 / Canon 100D has the merits of being the World’s smallest and lightest Digital SLR carrying the APS-C sensor. Smaller than the Canon Rebel T4i and only weighing it at only 13 ounces (369 grams), it’s an ideal camera for those wanting to make a first step into Digital SLR photography… perhaps been snapping away with a smart phone or compact camera.
It’s release came with a new lens too… the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM . This lens is an addition to the recently introduced STM (stepping-motor technology) a range of quiet and fast focus lenses particularly suitable for video recording. Of course the Canon Rebel SL1 / Canon 100D will be available with a “Body Only” option.
The camera has an 18 megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor and wide ranging ISO of 100-12,800 for stills and ISO 100-6400 for movies; Touch Screen 3 inch Clear View monitor from which you change a range of camera settings; Effect Shot Mode, Background Simulation and Creative Filters that can be used in Live View Mode; Preset Scene Modes that include Kids, Food, Candlelight and Night Portrait – particularly useful to those buying the Canon Rebel SL1 / Canon 100D as their first DSLR. The launch of the Canon Rebel SL1 / Canon 100D is scheduled for 30 April 2013 and is available on preorder.
